Generic drug maker Par Pharmaceutical Cos. said
Thursday it is buying eight drugs from rival Teva Pharmaceutical
Industries Ltd., pending the completion of its takeover of Ivax
Corp.
Par said the products -- all generic drugs -- are
currently sold in the United States by Ivax or Teva.
Last week, Par said it was acquiring the distribution
rights to three drugs that Ivax was required to divest as part of
its combination with Teva. The Teva-Ivax deal is expected to close
on Jan. 12.
